JakeSuper sweet Jake was not allowed in the house so his original family tied him out. Two of these pictures show the neck and leg wounds that resulted. He almost lost his leg. His foster mom never stopped commenting on how patient and accepting he was of the care of these injuries. Once his new mom laid eyes on him in 2006, she knew she would be his forever family. Recently she wrote: "I tell you he's a people magnet. Everywhere I go people want to take his picture. I also was told I should put him in an Angel Paws class because he's so friendly and such a good boy. These are dogs that go to the nursing homes and hospitals and let people pet them. He's such a 'love sponge'. Jake has a new dad.......he was our 'Best Man'. Thanks again for my boy. He's such a blessing in my life and I just can't imagine what I did before I got him."

Casey & CloeI grew up with Airedales and when we decided to get another pet we decided to look at the rescue Airedale group to give an animal another chance at life; this is how we met Cheryl. Cheryl matched us up with Casey, who had some issues, but with her help is now a beautiful Dale who has settled into our lives. It has taken time and effort on everyone's part but it has been well worth the journey. We decided to add another Airedale to the group since we loved Casey so much and he was returning the affection. Cheryl once again was able to match our family with a lovely little girl - Cloe. Gary had wanted another Welsh Terrier but Cloe fit the bill perfectly; she is smaller than Casey but all Airedale Terrier! The two dogs are very attached to each other and add an extra dimension to our lives. They both love the "alpha" and Gary has become attached to both Airedales - which is good since it was my idea to adopt! We are delighted that they have bonded so well and we are able to give them forever homes. |

LazloLazlo was rescued from the San Antonio pound in July 2007. He had mange, an ear infection, a GI infection, a badly broken hip, and was about 20 pounds underweight. TART paid for hip surgery, neutering, and all his medications during what was, all told, a fairly short recovery period. Airedales are sturdy dogs, and Lazlo is certainly a paragon of the breed! His hair grew back, his hip healed well, and his appetite returned with a vengeance. He now lives happily in Austin with his adopted family, which includes a small terrier whom he adores, and a cat whom he respects and admires.
